Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety MINING AND SAFETY <br />691 CR 233 Suite A -2 <br />Durango, CO 81301 <br />RE: R �1 � equest for Reduction in Permit Area to Uncompahgre Pit (M- 2013 -007) e oc:� <br />Dear Wally: <br />This letter is to inform you that Lazy K Bar Land & Cattle Company, LLLP is requesting <br />a reduction in the Uncompahgre Pit permit area from 253.23 acres to 244.25 acres for <br />their approved 112 c Permit with the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and <br />Safety. The permit number is M- 2013 -007. The reduction of 8.98 acres has never been <br />affected by the operation in any way therefore, no reclamation rules are in effect. The <br />area of the office /shop area is still residential as a ranch house with outbuildings, as it <br />was when the site was permitted. The proposed notification letter to adjacent landowners <br />is attached to this letter. This change is part of a Technical Revision submitted to the <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety. The revision encompasses the following <br />changes: <br />1) The access road that is parallel to T Road has been shortened in length. It will <br />leave T Road and branch off to the pit approximately 990 feet west of T Roads' <br />intersection with Horsefly Creek. <br />2) The original office /shop area that was permitted further east of Horsefly Creek on <br />T Road has been eliminated. The office /shop has been moved to the portion of the <br />permit area that is located west of the Montrose Canal. <br />3) The visual berm that was to be left until the end of mining and then removed will <br />now be left in place. Therefore, the slope to the pit on the terrace will never be <br />changed. All mining will occur inside this natural berm. <br />Changes 2 and 3 will result in reductions to the permit area, therefore, new maps have <br />been provided in the Technical Revision. <br />It is understood that the permit has recently changed operators from Rocky Mountain <br />Aggregate and Construction, LLC to Lazy K -Bar and Cattle Company, LLLP. The <br />attached pages now include Lazy K as the permittee and operator. <br />•I AF & Report <br />No Violations <br />
