(EFCI) — Permit No. C -81 -014 — Southfield Mine
Dear Rob Zuber:
This Minor Revision (MR -65) is an update of the Southfield map, Mine Area Surface Water &
Groundwater Hydrology, Map 12, updating drill holes identification/locations at the Southfield mine.
Seven drill holes of the SR Series of drill holes were added to the map for this revision. The reference
used for identifying and locating drill holes was directly from EFCI's Drill Log records. To further
support these findings, the report, Geologic Database and Coal Reserves, Southfield Mine, issued by
Glenn Miller of Pronghorn Geologic Services located in Gillett, Wyoming was also reviewed.
Accordingly, with this revision to Map 12, EFCI confirms that all of the SR Series (Dorchester mine) and
the SF Series (EFCI) drill holes are located on Map 12. Needless to say, there are many other series of
holes on the map but the Southfield approved permit documents that only the SR and SF Series holes are
the responsibility of EFCI. In accordance with Rule 4.07.3(3), EFCI hereby designates that Map 12, as the
topographic map and the separate, respective list of location coordinates of the holes (enclosed), is to be
used for locating drill hole sites at Southfield.
With respect to concerns emailed from The Corley Company concerning boreholes /drill holes, Al
Weaver of Weaver Engineering Services also reviewed all the maps that Dr. Corley referenced in his
emails. Specifically, those maps are: Southfield Mine Revision 12/15/00; 1988 Drill Site Map, Exhibit
1 A; Southfield Mine Permanent Closure Map, Sheets 1 & 2; Mine Area Surface & Groundwater
Hydrology, Map 12, Rev. 10/12; and Drill Hole Map, Map 2. With this extensive review, Mr. Weaver
confirmed that all of the SR and SF series of drill holes are located on Map 12.
Mr. Weaver's review found that one hole listed by Dr. Corley, SR -69, could not be found on any
of the above referenced maps, nor is it listed in the EFCI Drill Log Reports or the Geologic Database and
Coal Reserves, Southfield Mine report. Based on his research, Mr. Weaver believes that there is no "SR-
69" drill hole in the Southfield Mine area. A copy of Mr. Weaver's letter stating so is enclosed with this
submittal.
