jA
_Q
M 19"s — 112
San Luis Valley
Animal Welfare
S
ociety
Thursday, October 2, 2014
To: Mr. Wallace H Erickson, Environmental Protection Specialist
From: Frank W. Peek, President SLV Animal Welfare Society
RE: Battle Mountain Resources Inc. Petition for reduction of permit acreage.
San Luis Project, Permit No M- 1988 -112
Dear Mr. Erickson,
We have reviewed the materials you sent us Sept. 23, 2014 and find that we fully
support Battle Mountain Resources Inc request for permit acreage reduction.
Our Society has for the last 8 years owned and operated an animal shelter on 35 acres
of land surrounded by Battle Mountain Resources Inc land. We usually have 50 or
more once homeless rescued dogs at our shelter every day of the year. We also have
had a number of what we call sanctuary dogs that have lived at the shelter since we
have owned it. These dog were unadoptable for various reasons. We use well water
for our dogs to drink and to sanitize dog kennels. All dogs are in the best of health.
We wish to commend to you Battle Mountain Resources Inc and its people as the best
of neighbors. They have over the years been a joy to interact with and they have done
many things to help the homeless dogs we rescue and care for and to help us in our
work. They have done everything from keep the long drive to our shelter in good repair
and free of snow to buying dog food for the rescues.
Again we fully support Battle Mountain Resources Inc request for permit acreage
reduction.
Frank W.
