This addendum provides information regarding additional protection measures
for potential avalanches in the vicinity of the Property Discharge Water Treatment Plant(PDWTP).
The attached drawings show the design and location of a new avalanche deflection berm. The height of the
berm as shown on the attached profile drawing will vary and is approximately 27 feet at the top,20 feet in the
middle and 18 feet at the bottom, where avalanche debris will pile up. The berm will be constructed of fill
material from local borrow sources and it will be capped with topsoil and seeded,as was done for the existing
berm located uphill and across the west interceptor road from the new berm.
The new berm is a continuation of the current avalanche protection measures for the PDWTP. We intend to
construct the new berm in the next several weeks so that all work is completed prior to winter.
Please accept this letter and attachments as an addendum to TR-19 for your files. Climax also will maintain
this information with our copies of TR-19.
Sincerely,
Ray and Lazuk
Environmental Manager
attachments
