District Wildlife Manager Rick Gardner recently visited the site described as section 34,
Township 22S, Range 50W, in Bent County. The site appears to pasture land with a vegetative make up
of mixed short-grass, yucca and cactus. The land around the proposed site is primarily agricultural land
and holds relatively low wildlife value. Wildlife expected at the site would be primarily small ground-
dwelling mammals, including rabbits, prairie dogs, mice, ground nesting birds (such as scaled quail,
passerine and migratory birds), fox, raccoons, coyotes, and larger mammals (including deer and
pronghorn).
Due to the current uses, size, and location of the proposed site, impacts of the development may be
characterized as minimal. This is not to say that the landscape has no value to wildlife. Therefore, we
recommend the following in order to minimize negative impacts to wildlife at the site: reclamation of
the site should utilize topsoil, restore native vegetation to the extent possible, and care should be
taken to minimize adverse impacts to wildlife.
Sorry for the delayed response. If you have any further questions, please contact District Wildlife
Manager Rick Gardner at 719-940-3585.
Sincerely, --'
l
Travis Black
Area Wildlife Manager
Bob D.Broscheid,Director,Colorado Parks and Wildlife•Parks and Wildlife commission:Robert W.Bray•Chris Castilian,Secretary•Jeanne Horne I o
Bill Kane,Chair•Gaspar Perricone•Dale Pizel•James Pribyl•James Vigil•Dean Wingfield•Michelle Zimmerman•Alex Zipp * *!
•'a7e '
