Townsend Ave. <br />Director <br />Montrose, CO 81401 <br /> <br />Re: New Horizon Mine (Permit No. C-1981-008), Permit Revision Application No. 8 (PR-8) <br /> Revision of prime farmland reclamation practices including topsoil redistribution and <br />revegetation plans. <br /> <br /> <br />Dear Board of County Commissioners: <br /> <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article <br />33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on October 4, 2013, a permit revision <br />application for a permit to conduct coal mining operations, Permit No. C-1981-008 by Western Fuels- <br />Colorado, LLC, was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as <br />provided in the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules and Regulations of the <br />Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining initiate from this date of filing. <br /> <br />The revision addresses prime farmland reclamation practices, including topsoil redistribution and <br />revegetation plans; replacement of the irrigated cropland technical standard with a reference area; and <br />determination of prime farmland areas. <br /> <br />The Surface coal mining operation is located approximately 1.7 miles Northwest of Nucla, Colorado. The <br />permit area is further described as follows: <br /> <br />1.7 miles northwest of the Town of Nucla <br /> <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the following USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map(s): <br />Nucla. <br /> <br />A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the Montrose County Courthouse, 300 <br />Main Street, Nucla, CO. 81424 and at the Division Office.
