STATE OF COLORADO
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION, MINING AND SAFETY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone: (303) 866 -3567
FAX: (303) 832 -8106
September 5, 2013
Moffat County Commissioners
County Commissioner
221 W Victory Way
Craig, CO 81625
Re: Coal Exploration File No. X- 2006 - 214 -01
Dear Moffat County Commissioners:
COLORADO
ID IV I S I O N O F
RECLAMATION
MINING
SAFETY
John W. Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Loretta E. Pineda
Director
The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety is proposing to Approve the partial
release of coal exploration bond submitted by Moffat County Mining, LLC for Notice(s) of Intent
No. X- 2006 - 214 -01. The bond was submitted to cover reclamation costs of exploration drill holes
in Moffat County. An inspection showed that all disturbance associated with the exploration project
has not been adequately reclaimed. Based on the decision for the approved SL -1, Moffat County
Mining requested to hold bond to complete holes which were permitted, but never drilled. In
addition, a June 2013 bond release inspection for SL -1 showed two sites that were disturbed yet
unreclaimed. At the request of Moffat County Mining, all future drilling will no longer occur;
however, bond monies will remain in place to cover the cost of seeding one remaining site.
The legal description for the project is as follows:
Section 29, 30, 31,32, Township 6 North, Range 91 West
Any person with an interest which may be adversely affected by this proposed decision may submit
written comments to the Division at the address below within 30 days of publication of this
proposed decision in the Craig Daily Press.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call.
Sincerely,
Jason D.
