OMLLC is
proposing to install a de -gas borehole into the sealed Sanborn Creek Mine and construct a small
elevated pad to accommodate the equipment needed for the well and moving gas to the Elk
Creek electrical generating station. The Division has the following comments regarding the
proposed plan:
1. An elevated pad is proposed to be constructed to facilitate the drill rig, methane pumping
and monitoring equipment. The pad construction is not described in the revision
materials. Please provide more details about the pad such as construction materials,
dimensions and quantity of backfill to elevate the pad.
2. As in TR -70, please submit a copy of the COGCC permit when issued and a copy of the
COGCC bond verifying that the de -gas bore hole is bonded for reclamation. The
Division will prepare a cost estimate for the pad when the information in bullet #1 above
is known.
3. The application indicated that the "storm water sediment control will be accomplished by
seeding slopes, installation of hay bales, straw wattles and other alternative storm water
controls." Please explain in greater detail the measures that will be taken to meet the
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
John W.
