Box 483
Paonia, CO 81428
Re: Bowie No. 2 Mine (Permit No. C- 1996 -083)
June 2013 Discharge Monitoring Reports
Dear Mr. Bear:
COLORADO
ID I V I S I O N O F
RECLAMATION
MINING
SAFETY
John W. Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Loretta E. Pineda
Director
The Division has received and reviewed BRL's response to the Division's request for additional
information regarding the June 2013 Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) for the Bowie No. 2
Mine.
BRL verified that Ponds D and F were not discharged during June 2013, as documented in the
DMR. BRL further explained that Pond D was dewatered through evaporation and seepage,
and water from Pond F was pumped to Pond C. The response provided addressed our request
for information, and we have no further questions or concerns with the June 2013 report. BRL
should, however, remain cognizant of the maximum water and sediment levels for each pond
when pumping water between ponds so that available capacity for the design event is
maintained.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Susan L.
