All drill holes will be grout- cemented through coal- bearing strata, with cement extending 50 feet <br />above and below the mineable coal bed. The remainder of the hole will be backfilled with <br />cuttings and mud to ten (10) feet or greater below the surface. The hole will then be grout - <br />cemented to the surface. An aluminum or brass marker will be cemented into the top of each <br />hole extending less than 8" above the reclaimed surface. These markers will have the hole <br />identification number scribed or stamped. <br />Reclamation of disturbed areas will be initiated and completed shortly following site <br />abandonment. Drill sites will be recontoured and seeded. Seed rates of pounds per live seed per <br />acre for broadcasting are shown in Table 5.b.3. <br />Access routes that did not previously exist will be scarified as needed and seeded. Water bars <br />will be constructed where necessary. Cuts will be pushed back to approximate original contours <br />and any trees removed during construction scattered over the access route to deter future use. <br />Item #5 b. <br />1) Drill sites are located on fairly flat to gently sloping ground. These sites will be <br />approximately 75' X 120', or 0.201 acres each plus mud pit for a total of 0.23 acres per <br />location. Topsoil will be salvaged from the drill sites and mud pit locations and stored <br />immediately adjacent to the site. No topsoil salvage will occur along the access route. <br />2) Drill sites will be located on relatively flat areas. An average of approximately 100 CY <br />of material will be moved during drill site construction (1400 CY total). The new access <br />routes were sited to minimize the need for earth moving. Access to most sites will <br />require negligible earthwork. We estimate that access will require a total of about 200 <br />CY of cut and fill. <br />3) Seed rates of pounds per live seed per acre for broadcasting are shown in Table 5.b.3. <br />This seed mix is based on the mix used at the adjacent Deserado Mine. Changes from <br />this proposed mix may be made at the request of the BLM. <br />4) The depths of the proposed drill holes can be found in the table provided for Item 2. <br />5) Prior drilling in the area indicated no presence of a groundwater aquifer. Any <br />groundwater encountered was very limited in extent indicating origination from an <br />aquiclude. The Colorado Division of Wildlife was contacted concerning the original project <br />for the Exploration License covering the exact same area. Their response is attached.
