MANAGEMENT
The DRMS' letter dated August 8, 2013 transmitted its review of Bowie's June 2013
discharge monitoring reports. The DRMS asked for verification that Ponds D and F
were not discharged during June.
Pond D was dewatered by evaporation and seepage. There was no discharge from
Pond D. The water in Pond F was so high in suspended solids that it could not be
discharged. The water in Pond F was pumped to Pond C. Bowie hauled dry coal mine
waste into each of the ponds, mixed the dry waste with the saturated sediment and
then hauled the combined material back to the coal mine waste pile. This procedure
was repeated numerous times in both ponds.
Sincerely,
. E, Stover, P.E.
Consulting Engineer
Cc: Bill Bear
