Pineda
Director
RE: Williams Fork Mines (Permit C- 1981 -044)
Williams Fork Mines 2nd Quarter 2013 DMR Submittal
Mr. Nettleton
The Division has completed its review of Williams Fork Mines' second quarter discharge monitoring report of 2013 and
finds it in compliance of the following rules:
Rule 4.05. 131(2)(a)(1) — samples were measured accurately with quantity and quality recorded.
Rule 4.05.13(2)(a)(ii) — One indications of noncompliance with the permit condition or applicable standards occurred. A
written notice of one exceedance within the second quarter discharge monitoring report of 2013 was observed. Outfall
022A had an exceedance of the 30 day average for total recoverable iron. The 30 day average limit for total recoverable
iron is 100ug /L. It appears the discharge monitoring report recorded two different values for the 30 day average for total
recoverable iron, both which would be considered an exceedance. The cover letter for the report states the exceedance was
1030 ug /L. However, the sample measurement chart has the total recoverable iron at 1060 ug /L. The Division would like
to know which of the two values is correct for the 30 day average for total recoverable iron at Outfall 022A9
Rule 4.05.13(2)(a)(iii) — reports were received quarterly and filed with the Division within 90 days of the sample
collection.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Zach Trujillo
Environmental Protection Specialist
(303) 866 -3567 ext. 8164
Zach.Trujillo @state.co.us
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
