COMMENTS
This was a complete inspection of the Keenesburg Mine conducted by Brock Bowles of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation,Mining and Safety. Danny Kipp and Ben Moline of Coors Energy Company were present for the
inspection. Weather conditions were sunny and warm with no wind. The ground conditions were dry.
AIR RESOURCE PROTECTION—Rule 4.17:
No dust was generated from the mine site area including the B-Pit ash backfill area, B-Pit coverfill area,
long term spoil area, Area 25 reclamation and topsand stockpiles.
BACKFILL and GRADING—Rule 4.14:1 Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1;Approximate Original Contour
4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials
4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6:
Coal ash was stacked in the north end, lower lift of B-Pit ready for backfilling(photo 1). Backfill material
was being moved from the long term spoil area to the south side,upper lift of the active B-Pit area(photo 2). The
backfill was being spread in 6 foot lifts by a scraper.
The south side of the long term spoil area has been the source of coverfill material for the B-Pit. The portion of
the spoil area that lies west of Area 25 and North of Area 22 (acreage unknown at this time)has been finished
graded(photo 3).
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.051 Drainage Control 4.05.1,4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,

Sediment pond 2 and dugout ponds were both dry. The ditch along the main haul road to the B-Pit was
free and clear of obstructions.
