PERMIT #: M- 2013 -052
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: TCW
INSPECTION DATE: August 1, 2013
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection occurred to evaluate pre- operation conditions of the Agnus Dei claim in El Paso County.
Present with me during the inspection were the operator, Ms. Jean Cowman, and Mr. Rich Fretterd
representing the operator. The claim site is located in the SW1 /4 of Section 12 near Cameron Cone south of
Manitou Springs east of Pike's Peak. The site is accessed via a long, steep hike in from Manitou Springs.
The corners of the claim are marked with rock cairns and flagging. The site includes large boulders on steep to
very steep slopes. The top of the slope within the claim boundary does have an existing rough dirt road that
was historically a Forrest Service Road and has since been closed (although some traffic still uses the road).
The soil is largely weathered bedrock (grus) with very thin to no topsoil. The natural vegetation on the
undisturbed slope is sparse and includes scattered pine trees with some raspberry bushes and sporadic
grasses.
Ms. Cowman has a discovery pit (the Tribute Pit) on the claim that is approximately 10 ft long by 6 ft wide and
5 -6 ft deep. Overburden from this pit is piled on the down -slope side with minimal scatter. Ms. Cowman and
Mr. Fretterd stated that they will bring the material that has rolled down slope back up during reclamation of
the pit.
Proposed mining will include digging with hand tools in the Tribute Pit, and possibly extending the workings to
the south - southeast along the pegmatite trend in the future.
An area of historic disturbance is located north of the Tribute Pit, which was worked several decades ago. No
other disturbed areas were noted on site. The claim is in good condition.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Ms. Cowman indicated she will be submitting an application for a 110(2) permit. Given the good condition of
the site and the observations made during this inspection, if this application is received by DRMS within 60
days of this inspection report, an additional inspection will not be required for application approval.
Financial Warranty should be calculated once the application has been approved.
