APPENDIX 3 -1 <br />PERMIT AREA LEGAL DESCRIPTION <br />The permit area is located east and south of Hayden, Colorado in Routt County, Colorado; the coal handling facility area is <br />approximately two miles southeast of Hayden_ The USGS 7.5 quadrangle map Mount Harris, Colorado, contains the described area of <br />the site. <br />The proposed permit area for the Hayden Gulch Loadout contains approximately 175.3 acres. Approximately 97.1 acres of the <br />permitted area have been affected. No additional disturbances are contemplated at this time for the operational life ofthe facility (see <br />Exhibit 17 -1). However, an additional 8.4 acres may be disturbcxi during reclamation to accommodate grading activities. <br />The legal description of the permit area is: <br />A Permit Boundary located in a portion of the following: <br />Section 10: a portion of the East half <br />Section 14: a portion of the West half <br />Section 15: a portion ofthe East half of the East half <br />Section 22: a portion ofthe northeast quarter <br />Section 23: a portion of the North half of the North half of the northwest quarter, all in Township 6 North.
