Walz to Moroan.pdf
New Horizon Map with flow lines.pdf
imaoe004,ono
Ms. Morgan —
As we discussed this morning, the New Horizon Mine's upset conditions for pH have been resolved
as of yesterday (6/18/2013) at 5:15 pm when the pH measured 8.25 at Outfall 007.
Enclosed is the written report of the Upset Conditions that was submitted on Monday, 6/17/2013.
As described in this report, the pH Upset Conditions were related to very high pH (8.82) in the
intake water on the CC Ditch. This water is used for irrigation on fertilized fields that drain to Pond
007. In addition, the unseasonably high temperatures (90s) are contributing to the pH upset
condition. The facility has installed a CO2 sparging system to resolve the pH upset condition.
Also enclosed is a map showing the flow lines off of the irrigated fields towards Pond 007.
If you have any questions about this report or the facility's permit, please contact me at 303 -254-
3185 or via email.
Thanks,
Chantell R.
