All three involved the selenium
standard, 4.6 ug/l. The first involved a sample from Outfall 004 taken on April 18. The
second involved a sample from Outfall 003 taken on April 19. The third involved a
sample from Outfall 004 taken on May 6. Attached to this cover letter are emails which
discuss the details of each excursion. These emails also served as our five day notice to
the WQCD. Also attached are lab data, along with other documents referenced in the
emails.
During the second quarter, Sage Creek received a laboratory analytical report dated June
10th 2013 from the University of Mississippi's ICP -MS Facility, and the report is
attached. The report presents analytical results for selenium performed on portions of
samples that remained in custody with ACZ that were collected at Outfall 003 on April
19th 2013, and portions of samples that remained in custody with ACZ collected at
Outfall 004 on April 18th 2013. The sample remnants were sent by ACZ to the
University of Mississippi for selenium analysis using a high resolution ICP -MS analyzer.
None of the analytical results provided in the report were used in the DMR calculations.
Please call me at 928 - 913 -9218, or email me at jcochran @peabodyenergy.com, if you
have any questions.
Sincerely,
