PERMIT #: M -1999 -043
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: MAC
INSPECTION DATE: July 15, 2013
OBSERVATIONS
The inspection was conducted by Michael Cunningham of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
(Division). John DeWitt, the Lincoln County Land Use Administrator, was also present for the inspection. The C
& D Farms No. 2 Pit is located approximately 13.5 miles north and 3 miles east of Arriba, Colorado. The site is
permitted for 8.7 acres and the post- mining land use is rangeland.
The permit sign was posted at the site entrance and the boundary of the affected area was clearly delineated
by monuments as required by Rule 3.1.12. No mining was occurring at the time of the inspection; this site is
operated intermittently and is only mined when material is needed for road repairs.
Mining at the C & D Farms No. 2 site occurs within the channel of the Arickaree River. The Arickaree River was
not flowing at the time of the inspection; however, there was water pooled within the depression left by
mining activities. The depth of the pit is approximately 6 feet below the natural thalweg. Sand is mined from
the channel of the Arickaree River and is stockpiled on the southern bank; a small stockpile was present at the
time of the inspection.
Based on observations made during the inspection, the site is in compliance with the approved Mining Plan.
No problems or violations were noted.
This concluded the inspection
