It is also located nearthe Cripple Creek Historic District and is part of the view
from it, thus the mining heritage of the site should be preserved. Additionally, the neighboring tourist mine
has historically shared ventilation with portions of the property and the closure of the portal and air raise will
be taken into consideration. By virtue of the site's setting, the area will have scenic attraction along with some
limited use as rangeland and wildlife habitat.
Reclamation Objectives - New disturbance, that is not compatible with the historic aspects of the site, will be
stabilized and reclaimed to approximate original contours. Areas that have historically been disturbed will be
evaluated for historical significance, and stabilized as appropriate. Road and historical mining surfaces will be
replaced to approximately their original configuration, or left with some modification if found to be
aesthetically pleasing. Safety berms will be removed from the edges of the roads and the material contained
within them will be beneficially wasted on site.
Innel Area - At the time of final closure of the tunnel area, all mining equipment and temporary structures will
removed from the site. Any and all refuse generated in conjunction with the operation will be hauled away
d properly disposed of. The tunnel portal will be stabiliized and secured using a steel gate with hooded lock
r security; the installation designed to preclude entry bV unauthorized personnel, but allow airto flow
rough the mine workings. The silt retention trenches will remain in place and be planted with grass as
Drooriate.
r Raise - The air raise may or may not be closed. If closed, an engineered concrete plug will be set no less than
,feet below the collar. The top of the plug will be backfil (led with material composed of rock, sized at 3 -inch
inus. A suitable soil, orgrowth media, no less than 6 inches in thickness, will then be placed overthe fill prior
seeding.
egetative Details - Areas to be reclaimed will be graded and top soil orgrowth media added where available
nd appropriate. Areas outside of the historical travelwayls will receive seed bed preparation, including but not
mited to ripping, disking, harrowing, and will be seeded with a suitable rangeland seed mixture. The seed will
e either drilled or hand broadcasted as appropriate. If broadcast, it will be covered by hand raking or by
arrow methods. The seed mix will be sowed at a rate of no less than 10 pounds per acre, or per supplier's
acommendations. In areas with steep hillsides, reclamation mats or netting might also be used to assist
Rgetation if necessary. Seed will be applied in early spring or late fall to maximize the germination rate and to
(crease the success of the revegetation. Use of fertilizers is not anticipated to be necessary to obtain
>clamation objectives. Monitoring of the site will occur until reclamation objectives have been met.
