That office sent a letter to DRMS stating that the site had been "determined
eligible for the National Register of Historic Places" based on previous field assessments
conducted in the 1990's, and recommended that "operator avoid this site, or that additional
inventory be conducted to determine the effect of the proposed project on this resource."
However, no features were ever listed on the Register. Braun made contact was made with
Mark Tobias of that office, the current site conditions were discussed regarding the nearly 20
years that have gone by since the assessment was made, and the natural degradation of
structures exposed to the elements over that period of time. At this time there is nothing
remaining of these old original improvements, and Braun agreed to send the Office an
updated photograph of the site. As mining is to occur on this site in approximately the same
manner as had occurred in the past, the historical significance will remain. The historical
attraction remaining at this site is currently the waste rock pile and portal. The Office, along
with the City of Cripple Creek, has an interest in keeping the post mining look similar, thus
closure and reclamation will be performed keeping these elements in mind.
6) Storm Water Runoff Permit
