PERMIT #: M- 1999 -120
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: July 17, 2013
OBSERVATIONS
This was a partial acreage release inspection for an active 112c sand and gravel operation conducted by Eric
Scott of DRMS for the Ft. Lupton Sand & Gravel Pit site. DRMS met with Lynn Mayer Shults of L.G. Everist
on site. The Ft. Lupton Sand and Gravel operation is currently under contract to the City of Aurora to be
purchased in phases as the mining is completed for development as water storage reservoirs. This 77.37 acre
area (Hill - Oakley and Ft Lupton East) is the second phase to be completed for release.
Release was requested by L.G. Everist for this phase of the Ft Lupton Sand & Gravel operation on July 1, 2013.
Release notifications were mailed by the Division on July 11, 2013, and to date no comments or objections to
the acreage reduction have been received. The slurry walls enclosing these areas have already passed the State
Engineers Office testing process. No bonding reduction is being sought as part of this acreage release. To
facilitate the transition from L.G. Everist to the construction of developed water storage by the City of Aurora at
this site, DRMS approved TR04, as submitted by L.G. Everist, for the release of the cells in a less than fully
vegetated condition. All other reclamation requirements, including initial seeding, remain in place.
At the time of the release inspection, the Hill- Oakley and Ft Lupton East phases of the site appeared to be stable
and well sloped and graded according to the approved reclamation plan. L.G. Everist had also placed painted
steel posts to delineate the new eastern permit boundary in this area.
DRMS also received with this acreage reduction request correspondence signed and notarized by the City of
Aurora dated June 20, 2013, stating that this area of the Ft Lupton Sand & Gravel site meets their requirements
and that they approve of and accept the current condition of the site. DRMS will therefore approve the release
of the 77.37 acres comprising the Hill- Oakley and Ft Lupton East phases of the Ft Lupton Sand & Gravel site.
Inspection Contact Address
Lynn Mayer - Shults
L.
