Response: SCC requests that the Division retains the Pit Ramp Slide Area (9.4 acres) in the SL -4 Bond
Release area for release based on the following response.
SCC has been monitoring the situation at the Pit Ramp Slide (with the assistance of NWCC) and it
appears that the slide area has stabilized. The past winter was normal snowfall and the spring experienced
above normal rainfall following runoff and the area experienced no apparent movement.
NWCC has provided a letter (attached) discussing their observations, investigations and
recommendations. In brief NWCC recommends "Based on the present condition of the slide area. NWCC
does not believe that the subsurface trench drains need to be installed at this time."
SCC will continue to monitor the area and annual rill and gully maintenance will be conducted as needed.
If future movement is observed appropriate remediation methods will be implemented to provide
additional stabilization. These stabilization efforts could include installation of subsurface drains or other
approved stabilization methods deemed appropriate for the situation/conditions at the time.
PM4 -D Drainage:
S. It was noted during the June 4, 2013 inspection that a gully has formed midway down the PM4 -D
drainage. It appears water has undercut the TRM used to stabilize this drainage. This gully will
need to be repaired prior to the approval of the Phase I bond release for this drainage. Please
submit documentation this gully has been repaired.
Response: SCC has not completed the evaluation or repair of PM4 -D drainage channel and therefore
agrees that the drainage channel itself can be removed from the bond release approval area.
If there are further questions or concerns please contact me.
Sincerely,
JZR
Roy A.
