This project will
remove an existing culvert (CE5 -9) and small drainage ditch (DE5 -11) located in the lower stockpile area and
replace it with a V deep, natural or "erodible" ditch with 2:1 side slopes.
CE5 -9 carries runoff from the vegetated slope in drainage area 14A. DE5 -11 carries stormwater from drainage
area 14B which contains runoff from both the vegetated slope to the south and a portion of the stockpile to the
north. For this reason the proposed ditch has been sized to carry the 10 year peak discharge from drainage area
14A and the 100 year peak discharge from drainage area 14B (See Tables 43E and 44E). The final ditch design
is a natural or erodible channel for ease of maintenance and includes 0.3 feet of freeboard.
See attachments for details and calculations.
Please contact me at (970) 929 -2308 or by e -mail should you have questions regarding this submittal.
Sine ly,
Je ica Loveland, P.E.
Environmental Engineer
cc: Weston Norris — MCC
Neal Starkebaum — Gunnison Co.
