PERMIT #: M -1997 -039
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: PSH
INSPECTION DATE: July 16, 2013
OBSERVATIONS
The Williams /Illinois Gravel Pit was inspected by Peter Hays with the Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety (Division) in advance of a pending 110c to 112c conversion application to expand the pit. Mr. Richard
Wyatt with Wyatt Redi -Mix Company was present during the inspection.
The site is permitted for 9.9 acres. The plan is to expand the site to 205 acres. The site was previously
inspected by the Division on September 7, 2011. The site was inactive at the time of this inspection.
The Division currently holds a financial warranty in the amount of $7,600. The financial warranty will be
recalculated by the Division during the 110c to 112c permit conversion process. Mr. Wyatt stated a phased
bond for a maximum allowable disturbance of 15 acres (5 in reclamation, 5 for operations and 5 actively
mined) at one time would be proposed in the conversion application.
The pit highwall reclamation has continued along the northern boundary. The northwest corner of the pit
remains unmined, but will be mined next to allow for the northern half of the western highwall to be
reclaimed. The reclaimed portion of the northern slope was protected by an electric cattle fence. Vegetation,
mostly annual weeds with some native grasses was establishing on the 4H:1V slope.
An entrance sign was observed lying on the ground near the entrance and permit boundary markers were
observed as required by Rule 3.1.12. The Operator will need to reinstall the entrance sign.
Inspection Contact Address
Mr. Richard Wyatt
Wyatt Redi -Mix Co
690 Harrison Street
Walden, CO 80480
Cc: Tom Kaldenbach; DRMS
