V
GE1 Consultants
Geotechmcal July 1, 2013
Em Ironmental
Water Resources
Ecological
Mr. Tom Kaldenbach
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
303 - 866 -3567
Re: Request for Technical Revision No. 1: Debetz Sand and Gravel Pit, Adams
County Colorado — Mine Permit No. M- 1977283
Dear Mr. Kaldenbach:
On behalf of the Adams County Parks and Community Resources Department, GEI
Consultants, Inc. (GEI) is submitting this request for a technical revision to the
reclamation plan for the Debetz Pit (Permit Number: M- 1977283). The Debetz Pit
is currently known as the "Fishing is Fun" pond and is located just north of the
Adams County Regional Park between the Dunes Golf Course and South Platte
River (Attachment 1).
Background and Purpose:
The approved reclamation plan for Debetz Pit was prepared in 1978 and was
designed to complement the surrounding area by incorporating land uses such as
recreation, fishing, hiking, and biking. The surrounding area currently includes a
golf course to the north and west, several fishing piers along the south shore of the
pond, and a bike path along the south and east shorelines.
The purpose of this technical revision is to perform minor modifications to the
approved reclamation plan by reducing the acreage of the pond by approximately
6.0 acres (Attachment 2). The pond and surrounding area will continue to be used
for recreation, fishing, hiking and biking and will therefore continue to meet the
intent of the approved reclamation plan. A summary of the proposed modifications
is provided below.
Proposed Technical Revision:
As a condition of the December 2012 Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between
Adams County and the Metro Wastewater Reclamation District (MWRD), MWRD
is required to provide up to 75,000 cubic yards of trench spoils to Adams County at
wutiv geiconsultants com GEI Consultants, Inc
4601 DTC Boulevard, Suite 900, Denver, CO 80237
303 662 0100 fax 303 662.8757
