TRAPPER MININO Iscm
July 18, 2013
CERTIFIED
RECEIVED
JUL 2 3 2013
Colorado Department of Public (Health and Environment
Water Quality Control Division DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
WQCD -P -132 MINING AND SAFETY
4300 Cherry Creek Dr. South
Denver, CO 80246 -1530
Subject: Second Quarter 2013 Colorado Wastewater Discharge Monitoring Reports
Permit No. CO- 0032115
To whom it may concern:
Enclosed are Trapper Mine's Second Quarter 2013 Colorado Wastewater Discharge Monitoring Reports for the
period 04/1/13- 06/30/13. During this quarter, five NPDES outfalls were active. Outfalls 001, 002, 011, 018 and 020
discharged during the quarter. Outfalls 005, 008, 009, 012, 013, 014, 015, 016, 017, 019, 021, 022, 023 and 024 did
not discharge during the quarter. Values reported on the enclosed DMRs represent the maximum (or minimum as
applicable) monthly /daily values generated at each outfall during the quarter.
Trapper was recently issued a new discharge permit, effective November 1, 2012. New DMR forms were issued
with this renewal. Our previous forms included a space to report Total Dissolved Solids and Solids, Settleable. The
TDS is reportable on a quarterly basis per our permit. The TDS values are as follows for each active outfall:
001
002
Oil
018
020
3120 mg /L
870 mg /L
8001ng/L
170 mg /L
1800 mg /L
If the division desires these values to be reported on the DMR, please re -issue new forms with the space provided to
enter this data. The Solids, Settleable numbers are required as an alternate limitation in the event of an exceedence
of primary effluent limitations during a precipitation event. Again, SS numbers were previously reported on the old
forms. If the division desires these values to be present on the DMR, please re -issue as appropriate, and/or the
values will be included in this cover letter with the burden of proof in the event of an exceedence of primary effluent
limits.
One exceedence of primary effluent limitations occurred at outfall 001. A value of 37 mg/L for Total Suspended
Solids was reported. A precipitation event of 0.35 inches of moisture combined with residual spring snowmelt
created high flows at the site. This exceedence is applicable for the alternative reporting limits based on Settleable
Solids. Settleable Solids were reported at less than 0.1 mg /L for this sample date at outfall 001 and would not be a
violation of the NPDES discharge permit.. No other exceedances occurred at the other active outfalls this quarter.
Also enclosed are monthly NOAA weather summaries for the reporting period. The enclosed NOAA weather
summary reports show the temperatures and precipitation measurements for the period mentioned. Daily
precipitation measurements are recorded at 7:00 a.m. as well as daily maximum and minimum temperatures from the
previous 24 hours.
Trapper is required to maintain sediment levels in ponds at or below 60% of the pond volume. All outfalls have
been properly maintained and no ponds exceeded the 60% threshold for sediment accumulation.
P.O. Box 187 Craig, Colorado 81626 (970) 824 -4401
