EXHIBIT E — Reclamation Plan
The pit will be re- seeded, as recommended by the attached Logan County NRCS seeding
recommendation, when completed. The site will be used for rangeland. Each of the
areas will be re- seeded after mining has been completed in that area.
a) Top soil depths are approximately 4 inches at the proposed site. Top soil and
any suitable overburden will be stockpiled for use in reclamation.
b) Reclaimed slopes will have a maximum gradient of 3H:1V to facilitate re-
vegetation and reduce soil erosion.
c) We plan to consult with the Natural Resource Conservation Service, utilizing
their recommendations, to maximize our reclamation efforts. A copy of their
recommendation is attached.
d) The stockpiled topsoil will be spread evenly over the prepared area. All
topsoil will be replaced before seeding of the pit occurs. We estimate that
approximately 4" of topsoil will be replaced during reclamation. All of the
stockpiled topsoil will be returned, but the depth could vary depending on
what was stockpiled in that particular area.
e) The NRCS plan has recommended that seeding be done between November 1
and April 30 with a disc drill for best results. The seedbed will be prepared for by
chiseling the site. Following seeding, the area will be mulched with either straw
or manure. If straw is used, approximately 2 tons per acre will be applied,
followed by light disking to crimp the straw. If manure is used, approximately 20
tons per acre will be applied. Fertilizer may be applied at a very low rate
recommended for rangeland. This would be done prior to chiseling. . Seeding
rates per acres of pure live seed suggested are 1.8 pounds of Sideoats grama, 3.2
pounds of Western wheatgrass, 1.4 pounds of Little Bluestem, 0.9 pounds of
Switchrgrass, and 1.3 pounds of Prairie Sandreed.
e) We plan to drill to seed the grass. If seed were broadcast, the rates would be
doubled. The pit area will be fenced until vegetation is established and final
release is obtained. The site will be inspected for noxious weeds on a regular
basis. Control will be maintained by the operator or retaining services of the
Logan County Weed District spraying service.
f) There will be no ponds, streams remaining after reclamation.
g) Any internal haul roads will be reclaimed as the pit is closed. The entrances
into the pit will be left in place at the request of the landowner.
