MANAGEMENT
On behalf of Bowie Resources, LLC, (BRL), enclosed is an application for a technical
revision to increase the size of the material storage area located east of the B -Seam
portals.
Project Summary
BRL permitted the construction of the B -Seam portals early in 2003 (PR -07). The
DRMS approved the construction of the portals on May 12, 2003. The portals were
constructed during the third quarter of 2003. Excavation of the portals generated
approximately 106,000 cubic yards of material that is stored in a stockpile located east
of the B -Seam portals. BRL proposes to increase the size of the material storage area
located between the paved haul road and the excess material stockpile. The new
material storage area is shown on Map 15 -2.
Approximately 8,000 cubic yards will need to be excavated from the excess material
stockpile in order to expand the material storage area. BRL proposes to utilize the
8,000 cubic yards to supplement the volume of cover material available for gob pile
numbers 2 and 4. The 8,000 cubic yard deficit of fill material for the B -Seam portals at
final reclamation would mean the reclaimed ground surface would be about 1.1 feet
lower than the original ground surface over the 4.5 acre disturbed area.
Thirty -six inch diameter culvert C -7 will need to be lengthened by 270 feet. Ditch C -5
does not change significantly. If the DMRS approves the concept of expanding the
material storage area, Maps 20 and 21 -2 will be updated.
Right of Entry
The work will be performed on land owned by Bowie.
