New Elk mine is typically a seasonal activity. NECC would not be opposed to removal of the residual
drilling mud, following periods of disposal and subsequent drying, on an opportunistic basis. Since the
drilling mud and sediment is located in the southeast corner of the pond, removal could be accomplished
selectively without disturbance to the existing willow and riparian species in the larger area of the pond.
Any modification to the current permit text narrative can easily be done during the on -going
permitting related to midterm review issues.
Based on our meeting, NECC and GEC will proceed with a proposal to modify the revegetation plan and
land use descriptions. A specific plan will be provided to the CPW for review once developed as part of
the ongoing Division permitting process.
Thanks again and please call if you have further questions or concerns.
Kent Gorham
Gorham Energy Consultants, LLC
12303 Airport Way, Ste. 200
Broomfield CO 80021
(303) 327 -1525 (w)
(303) 870 -3787 (c)
12303 Airport Way Ste 200 • Broomfield CO 80021 • Phone: 303.327.1525 • kent @gorhamenergyconsultants.com 11
