The Sangre de Cristo Mine (site 5TL360) is located within the western permit area and was last
recorded in 1996 as part of the proposed land exchange between the Bureau of Land Management and Cripple
Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company. This site was determined eligible for the National Register of Historic
Places based on a field assessment at the time survey was completed and we recommend that the operator avoid
this site or that additional inventory be conducted to determine the effect of the proposed project on this
resource. If site avoidance is not possible, we recommend further consultation with our office in order to
identify options to avoid, minimize, or mitigate the adverse effect to this resource.
Should human remains be discovered during mining activities the requirements under State law CRS 24-80 part
13 apply and must be followed.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment. If we may be of further assistance, please contact Mark Tobias,
Section 106 Compliance Manager, at (303) 866 -4674 or mark.tobiasOstate.co.us.
Si cerely,
dward C.
