Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Loretta Pineda
Director
The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (CDRMS) has reviewed and found the above
referenced report to be in compliance with Rule 4.05.13(2). The 1St Quarter 2013 Discharge Monitoring
Reports were received by the Division on May 14, 2013; the report covers the time period from January
1, 2013 through March 31, 2013.
Outfalls 010, 012 and 013 at the Yost Mine discharged during this quarter. The cover letter to the
Colorado Health Department indicates that two selenium (Se) values reported by the Lab exceeded the
4.6 ug/L DMR limit. These occurred on samples collected from Outfall 010 on February 4th and March
5th, 2013. According to the letter, Seneca Coal Company(SCC) believes the lab results to be in error for
this value. Further, the Division received another letter from SCC dated May 2, 2013 indicating that
there is not a numeric selenium DMR limit for Outfall 10 and that SCC is only required to monitor the
Se level.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (303) 866 -3567 ext. 8120.
Sincerely,
. 6y
Jared Ebert
Environmental Protection Specialist
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
