INTRODUCTION
Connell Resources, Inc. is expanding the sand and gravel mining operation at the Camilletti Pit.
The existing Camilletti Permit (M- 1987 -164) area of approximately 35 acres is located in the
Northeast' /4 of Section 11, Township 6 North, Range 88 West of the Sixth P.M. in Routt County.
The proposed permit amendment, called Hayden Gravel Pit, is located 2.2 miles east of the Town
of Hayden in Routt County, Colorado and is accessed from a private road used by the Routt
County Road & Bridge gravel pit. This private road connects to US 6/40 half a mile east of the
intersection of County Road 51 A and US 6/40. The site, in relation to the City of Hayden, is
shown on Map B -1.
The mining area is located on a dry terrace surrounded on the south and east side by hay
meadows. The Routt County gravel pit is located directly northeast of the mining area. The
existing gravel pit ( Camilletti Pit) operated by Connell Resources, Inc. is located west of the
proposed mining area and will be connected to the proposed pit through this amendment. Parcel
lines obtained from Routt County are shown on Map C -1.
The topography within the permit area slopes gently down toward the northeast and is perched
on an alluvial terrace. The disturbed area for the Hayden Gravel Pit is 77.85 acres, and includes
all of the mining area, berms, and roads. The permit boundary is shown on Map C -1 and is 94.95
acres. This is an increase of 60.90 acres over the existing permit area of 34.05 acres. This upper
terrace to be mined has historically been used for hay meadow. This hay meadow land use does
not use irrigation. No land use identified on site uses irrigation.
The permittee for this site is Connell Resources, Inc. Connell Resources has a lease with the
property owner, Jacco Camilletti, for the Camilletti Pit area. Connell Resources owns the
property of the expansion area.
The site will be reclaimed to a land use of hay meadows and dryland pasture. The topography of
the reclaimed land is shown on Map F -1. All maps are found in Appendix 5.
The new expanded pit will be called the Hayden Gravel Pit.
Hayden Gravel Pit, May 2013 i -3
