PM -2D, a rock -lined drainage channel routing runoff to T -26 is in good condition. New rock check dams
are in place and appear to function as designed (channel was dry at the time of inspection).
PM -4 was dry during the inspection but regularly receives runoff. This channel is in a steep slope and has
historically been difficult to stabilize. SCC has placed geotextile material and rip rap in the channel.
Vegetation is establishing through the fabric, which is helping to stabilize the surface. A roughly 25'
section of the channel has down -cut through the fabric and rip rap (see photo #11588). SCC plans to
repair this area under regular rill and gully maintenance this summer. This repair will be conducted with
hand tools to avoid bringing machinery onto the slope.
Sedimentation Ponds and Impoundments (Rules 4.05.5; 4.05.6; and 4.05.7):
Stock pond T -2 was holding water but not discharging. Arrowleaf balsamroot (a desirable species) is
abundant in this area.
T -3 was holding water but not discharging. The white- flowered plant on the pond's outside embankment
looked similar to hoary cress (Cardaria draba, a List B noxious weed), but is actually pennycress (Thlaspi
arvense), which is not a noxious weed in Colorado.
T -5 was holding water but not discharging at the time of inspection. Vegetation is well established in the
open channel rock -lined spillway.
T -18 was holding water but not discharging at the time of inspection. There is minor rilling in the slope
between T -18 and T -20. Straw bales have been placed to help control area runoff (see photo #11589).
T -20 was holding water but not discharging at the time of inspection. The rock -lined inlet and discharge
structures are intact.
T -24 was dry at the time of inspection. All embankments appear stable and well vegetated with
herbaceous species.
T -26 was holding water but not discharging during the inspection. All embankments are stable.
T -27 was holding water but not discharging. There is some minor rilling in the slope above this area,
which should be monitored.
Pond 16 was discharging during the inspection. The rock -lined discharge channel measures
approximately 15' wide, the embankment width (at top) measures approximately 15' and the outside
embankment slope measures approximately 17'. The inlet channel is rock lined and stable. SCC plans to
submit a Technical Revision to add a culvert which will allow vehicular travel over this channel.
Pond 17 was discharging during the inspection. The primary discharge culvert measures 36 ", the
embankment width (at top) measures approximately 15' and the outside embankment slope measured
approximately 17 °.
Roads Rule 4.03 et seg.):
Haul Road K measures approximately 15' across and has a slope of approximately 3' by Pond 16. Haul
Road A measurement approximately 20' wide with a 5' slope by T -5; 21.5' wide with a 5° slope by T -3,
and 24' wide with a 4.6° slope by T -2. These measurements appear typical of permanent roads within the
permit area.
Page 12
