Collom Area Geology Pre - Feasibility Report
procedures for contractors, each drilling period consisted of working five
days, one day off, working four days and then breaking for four days.
The Collom Exploration team developed a comprehensive set of exploration
and data management protocols prior to the start of the drilling program.
The exploration protocols detailed methodologies for geotechnical logging of
core, coal sampling, and safety. The data management protocols outline
methods for data input, data checking and geological modeling. Copies of
the protocols reside in Appendix F.
4.1.1 2004 Exploration Drilling
Throughout the course of the 2004 Exploration Program, Colowyo employed
as many as 6 drill rigs and up to 37 geologists, geological engineers,
hydrologists, drillers and helpers. During the 2004 Exploration Program 89
individual holes were drilled on 42 drill sites at Collom, see Table 4.1 and
Figure 4.1.
Table 4.1
Summary of 2004 Exploration Drilling
Drill Hole Type
Number of Holes
Total Footage
Pilot Holes
20
18,906
Spot Cores
20
12,526
Continuous Cores
15
14,283
Monitoring Wells
13
7,599
Piezometer Wells (4 converts)
15
6,221
Alluvial Wells
5
335
Rotary Holes (non -core)
2
2,165
Redrills /Abandoned
3
733
Totals
89
62,769
August 2005 Page 13 of 38
