Class III Inventory, Colowyo's Collom Mine Project 29 <br />6.0 RESULTS <br />A total of 73 newly discovered sites and 69 IFs were recorded during the Class III cultural resource <br />inventory. Additionally, 51 previously recorded sites were revisited and re- evaluated. The location <br />of the cultural resources are shown in Appendix A. The site forms are provided in Appendix B. The <br />newly recorded sites are presented in Section 6.1 and summarized in Table 6.1, the previously <br />recorded sites are presented in Section 6.2, and the IFs are discussed in Section 6.3. <br />6.1 NEWLY RECORDED SITES <br />6.1.1 Site 5MF6059 (A -36) <br />Site Tyne: Historic inscription <br />Legal Location: Section 23, T4N, R94W <br />Landowner: Private <br />Site Dimensions: 2 x 2 ft <br />Site Description: Site 5MF6059 is located on a southern exposure of a vertical sandstone cliff face <br />along the northern terminus of a northeast- trending ridgeline that separates Collum Gulch from <br />Morgan Gulch (Figure 6.1). The site is on the west side of and overlooks Collum Gulch. The site <br />lies on bedrock approximately three quarters up the cliff face from the Gulch bottom at 7,000 ft <br />(2,134 m). An unnamed intermittent drainage is approximately 15 ft (5 m) to the west. The general <br />area is characterized by northeast- trending ridges separated by gulches. Surrounding vegetation <br />consists of rabbitbrush, sagebrush, serviceberry, cheatgrass, other grasses, and forbs. Disturbances <br />to the site include erosion. <br />The site consists of a historic inscription etched into the vertical face of a sandstone cliff (Figures 6.2 <br />and 6.3). The inscription consists of two letters of the alphabet in the form of a "W" with a "J" <br />incised underneath it.
