• 2.04.9 (1) (a) SOIL DESCRIPTION
Two soil series, the Osgood and the Valent, cover nearly all of the area. A third, the
Loup-Boel loamy sand, is found only in a very small section at the extreme eastern edge of
the area and therefore was not studied in detailed. However, surface composites obtained
from several small core samples were examined.
The Osgood and Valent soils were pit sampled at four locations as shown on the Soils
Photomap, Appendix L-2. The detailed soil profile descriptions resulting from these pit
studies are provided in Appendix L-1, pages 36-40.
The general descriptions for all soil mapping units found within the total study area are
provided in Appendix L-l, pages 4-8, and are keyed to the map symbol numbers shown on
the Soils Photomap.
2.04.9 (1) (b) SOII. ANALYSIS
Soils analysis for representative samples of each soil horizon for each soil type are
provided in Appendix L-1, pages 41-46.
2.04.9 (1) (c) SOIL, MAP
• A soils Photomap showing soil type boundaries and pit sample locations is furnished as
Appendix L-2.
2.04.9 (1) (d)
Information addressing the suitability of each major soil horizon as a plant growth media
based on its physical and chemical characteristics is found in Appendix L-l, pages ii
(Abstract) and 8-12.
•
76
