PERMIT #: M- 1983 -193
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: BMK
INSPECTION DATE: May 2, 2013
OBSERVATIONS
1) The Division conducted a monitoring inspection of the site to verify adequacy of the financial warranty in a
response to a Temporary Cessation (T.C.) request. Present during the inspection were Dennis Goode and Greg
Newline of R.E Monks Construction. There was approximately an inch of snow from the night before that was on
the ground at the time of the inspection.
2) The site is a 35 acre 112 sand and gravel operation located 5 miles north east of Colorado Springs. The maximum
acres to be affected at any given time are 4 acres.
3) All the affected acres have been graded and top soiled replaced. The operator explained that the site is only
used when material for the plant area is needed and they do not anticipate mining here any time soon and want
to be in T.C.
4) The reclaimed slopes were 4:1 and gentler for the most of the area. Surface water from the reclaimed slopes is
captured with in the pit.
5) The current financial warranty for the site is $18,450.00 and is more than adequate to cover the cost of
reclamation. However when the operation starts mining operation, the Division will recalculate the required
warranty based on the approved maximum 4 acres to be affected at any given time. The Division will approve
the T.0 request at this time.
