Pineda <br />711 Independent Ave. <br />Director <br />Grand Junction, CO 81505 <br />Re: Trapper Mine (Permit No. C- 1981 -010) <br />Permit Revision Application No. 7 (PR -7) <br />Dear Mr. Velarde: <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article <br />33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on May 31, 2013, an application to <br />revise coal mining operations at the Trapper Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All <br />review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />This permit revision proposes to add 774.8 acres to the current approved permit area and updates the permit <br />application package for the 2013 to 2017 permit term. The Surface coal mining operation is on land located <br />approximately 6 miles Southwest of Craig, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 1, 2, and 3, Township 5 North, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />Portions of Sections 30 and 31, Township 6th North, Range 90 West of the 6th P.M. <br />Portions of Sections 25, 26, 28, 33, 34, 35, and 36, Township 6 North, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />The above - mentioned tracts of land are shown on the following USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map(s): <br />Castor Gulch. <br />Because the above referenced permit revision application would incorporate additional lands into the permit <br />area or might otherwise alter previously approved permit conditions or mitigation measures, we are <br />requesting your agency's evaluation of the proposal. Your comments and concerns relating to the adequacy <br />of fish and wildlife resources information, the fish and wildlife plan, and the reclamation plan as it relates to <br />fish and wildlife considerations, including potential impacts to threatened or endangered species, are <br />requested. Your evaluation of any woody plant stocking levels, planting arrangements, and methods for <br />mitigation of potential adverse impacts is also requested. <br />Pertinent portions of the permit application are available electronically on our web site: <br />http:// mining. state.co.us /ImagedDocuments.htm The permit number is C1981010 and the IBM index <br />class is "Permit File" OR "Revision ".
