May 2013 Groundwater POC Memorandum ♦ 3
This Technical Memorandum summarizes recent and historical investigations in the context
of evaluating appropriate POC locations and presents the recommendations based on review
of these data.
1.3 2012 FIELD INVESTIGATIONS
Henderson has commissioned various internal studies and field activities to evaluate and
address groundwater seepage from the TSF. In 2012, AJAX and CCA implemented a field
program to further evaluate groundwater flow and transport pathways east of the 1 -Dam
and 3 -Dam facilities and evaluate potential POC locations. The field investigation included
the following tasks:
• Installation and analysis of nine (9) new monitor wells in the areas east of the 1 -Dam
and 3 -Dam.
• Aquifer testing and the estimation of representative hydraulic parameters for the
aquifer system east of 1 -Dam and 3 -Dam.
• Field reconnaissance geologic mapping in the area north and northeast of 1 -Dam.
• Water level and water quality monitoring in new and existing internal wells.
The results of these tasks augment prior data collection activities and contribute to the
development of an updated site conceptual model and a better understanding of
hydrogeologic conditions at the Site.
AJAX Ltd ♦ 28828 Cedar Circle ♦ Evergreen, CO 80439 ♦ (303) 241 -2057
Clear Creek Associates* 6155 E.
