Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Loretta E. Pineda
Director
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has received a revision for the West Elk Mine.
The Division deemed the revision complete on May 29, 2013 and issued the decision on the same
date.
The Mountain Coal Company has submitted a Minor Revision to the West Elk Mine's permit. The
revision proposes to construct an addition to the nigen building and pad. This addition will allow
for additional nitrogen generation capability. There will be no change in the mine's permit or
disturbance boundary as a result of this revision. There will be an increase in the mine's bond
liability, which will be calculated by the Division prior to proposing a decision.
This revision is available for review at the Gunnison County Planning Department, 201 E. Virginia,
Gunnison, CO 81230.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
James R.
