PERMIT #: M- 2013 -023 <br />INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: TOD <br />INSPECTION DATE: May 17, 2013 <br />OBSERVATIONS <br />This pre- operation inspection was conducted in response to a request for a new 110c permit application (M- <br />2013 -023) that the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) received on April 8, 2013. The pre - <br />operation inspection was conducted by Tyler O'Donnell of the Division. Hans Friederichs, the consultant for <br />Riverside Aggregates, LLC, was present during the inspection. Riverside Aggregates, LLC, the permit applicant, <br />was represented by Ruddy Torres during the inspection. Sharp Pit #2 is located approximately 3 miles east <br />and 1 mile south of McClave Colorado. Sharp Pit #2 is permitted as a sand and gravel pit. The approved <br />permit area is 9.9 acres. The approved post- mining land use is rangeland. The site is currently surrounded by <br />rangeland and cultivated agricultural fields. <br />No problems or violations were noted during the inspection. The Division sent out notices regarding the new <br />110c permit application to the required parties on May 1, 2013 as required by Construction Materials rule <br />1.6.2. The Division did not receive objections to the new permit application. The Division did receive written <br />comments from The State Historical Officer and the Colorado Division of Water Resources. <br />The sky was clear. The ground was dry. The site is located approximately 2 miles north of the Arkansan River. <br />The site currently has a small excavation where the land owner has removed material for personal use on their <br />property. An un -lined irrigation canal is located in close proximity to the eastern edge of the mine site. The <br />Irrigation canal flows from north to south. The operator's representatives explained that the irrigation canal is <br />only operational a few days a year. The operator's representatives explained that they don't anticipate any <br />seeps into the pit from the irrigation canal. No problems or violations were observed during the inspection. <br />Fish and Wildlife: <br />Deer were observed during the pre - operational inspection. <br />Roads: <br />The access road was in good condition. <br />Signs and Markers: <br />The required posted notice was displayed at the entrance to the site, along county road LL.
