The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34,
Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on May 23, 2013 an
application to revise coal mining operations at the Peabody Sage Creek Mine was considered
complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Peabody Sage Creek Mining,
LLC. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from
this date of filing.
Technical Revision No. 6 proposes a reduction in the liability amount which resulted from the
Division's 2013 Mid -Term Review of the Peabody Sage Creek Mine. The Division's 2013 Mid -
Term Review of the Peabody Sage Creek Mine determined that the required bond amount to fully
reclaim the approved disturbances associated with the Peabody Sage Creek Mine is $4,914,628.55.
The Division currently holds a self bond from Peabody Sage Creek Mining, LLC. in the amount of
$6,160,431.65.
The Underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 9 miles Southeast of
Hayden. The permit area is further described as follows:
Township 5 North, Range 87 West, all or portions of Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14,
15, 16, 21 and 22; Township 6 North, Range 87 West, all or portions of Sections 27, 28, 29, 32, 33,
34, 35 and 36 approximately 9 miles south and east of the town of Hayden, CO to the East of Routt
County Road 27 at an approximate elevation of 6800 feet AMSL Mount Harris/Milner Quadrangle
