Hickenlooper <br />Governor <br />Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903 Mike King <br />Executive Director <br />Loretta E Rneda <br />Di ctor <br />RE: Schmidt's Construction Company Vollmer Pit, File No. M- 1983 -035 Request for Temporary cessation status <br />Dear Commissioners, <br />This letter is to inform El Paso County of the intent of Schmidt's Construction Company to put their mining operation <br />in a State of Temporary Cessation. This letter is sent pursuant to the requirements of Rule 1.13.6 of the Construction <br />Material Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board. The mining operation M- 1983 -035 is <br />located at or near Section 32, Township 12 S and Range 65 W, 6T" pm in El Paso County. <br />The period of Temporary Cessation will commence on 6/29/13 and will last up to five years from that date. The <br />notice submitted to the Division contains information pertaining to the reasons for cessation of the mining operation, <br />a plan for resumption and the measures taken to comply with reclamation and other necessary activities related to <br />the performance standards of Rule 3 of the Rules and Regulations in order to maintain the mine in non - productive or <br />non - development state. <br />The receipt of the Notice of Temporary Cessation will be acknowledged in the monthly report attached to the agenda <br />of the Mined Land Reclamation Board unless one or more of the following conditions occurs: <br />1) Reclamation or performance standard issues are indicated in the Notice of Temporary Cessation. <br />2) Such issues are indicated by a field inspection of the mine site. <br />3) Such issues are indicated by a review of the mining operation file. <br />4) Concerns are expressed about the Notice of Temporary Cessation by interested persons. <br />If one or more of the above conditions occurs the Division will place the Notice of Temporary Cessation on the <br />agenda of an upcoming meeting of the Mined Land Reclamation Board. During that meeting, the Board will consider <br />whether or not to accept the Notice.
