In Summary Phase III areas addressed by this document surpass the success standards for
diversity.
4.5 Relative Cover Diversity Success Comparison
This success standard states that no reclaimed area shall have a single species that represents
greater that 70% relative cover, with the exception of annual grasses. The annual grass component
shall not exceed 70% relative cover unless the annual grass component in the corresponding reference
area also exceeds 70 %. In such instances, the relative cover of the annual grass component of the
reclaimed area shall not exceed the relative cover of the annual grass component in the reference area
by more than 5 %. The Greasewood Comparison Revegetation Areas and the Shadscale Revegetation
Areas did not have a single species with a relative cover greater than 70% in 2011 or 2012. Conversely,
since cheatgrass is the primary concern for exceeding the 70% relative cover limit, the highest relative
cover value for cheatgrass (and any single species) was at 49.1% in the Greasewood Comparison
Revegetation Areas in 2011. The reference areas exceed these levels considerably, with the lowest
relative cover for cheatgrass being 75.8% in the 2011 Greasewood Reference Area, and the highest
relative cover value for cheatgrass being 79.3% in the 2012 sampling effort of the Shadscale Reference
Area. The bond release areas easily pass the success criterion for the Relative Cover Diversity Success
Standard and can be expected to continue doing so into future years.
In Summary, Phase III areas addressed by this document surpass the success standard for 70%
relative cover diversity.
CEDAR CREEK ASSOCIATES, Inc.
