Pineda
Director
RE: Williams Fork Mines (Permit C- 1981 -044)
Williams Fork Mines 1st Quarter 2013 DMR Submittal
Mr. Nettleton
The Division has completed its review of Williams Fork Mines' first quarter discharge monitoring report of 2013 and
finds it in compliance of the following rules:
Rule 4.05. 131(2)(a)(1) — samples were measured accurately with quantity and quality recorded.
Rule 4.05.13(2)(a)(ii) — Two indications of noncompliance with the permit condition or applicable standards occurred. A
written notice of two exceedances within the first quarter discharge monitoring report of 2013 was noted. Outfall 022A
had an exceedance of the 30 day average for TSS. The 30 day average for TSS was documented at 45 mg /L versus the
limit of 35 mg /L. Additionally, the 7 day TSS max was 83 mg /L versus the limit of 70 mg /L. It is noted within Williams
Fork Mines' 1St Quarter 2013 DMR submittal that the exceeding results were potentially caused from the result of the
pump being off and later restarting. This may have flushed material from the sedimentation ponds.
Rule 4.05.13(2)(a)(iii) — reports were received quarterly and filed with the Division within 90 days of the sample
collection.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Zach Trujillo
Environmental Protection Specialist
(303) 866 -3567 ext. 8164
Zach.Trujillo @state.co.us
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
