Box 1849 Division of Reclamation, <br />Grand Junction, Colorado 81502 Mining & Safety <br />RE: Gunnison Rivers Gravel Pit Nos. 1 and 5, Substitute Water Supply Plan <br />DRMS File No."M- 2009 -048 <br />SE' /4 SE' /4 Section 28, T12S, R99W, and NE' /4 SE' /4 Section 33, T1 2S, R99W, 6th P.M. <br />Water Division 4, Water District 42, Mesa County <br />Approval Period: May 1, 2013 through April 30, 2015 <br />Dear Mr. Geer: <br />We have reviewed your letter of February 28, 2013 requesting approval of a substitute water <br />supply plan ( "SWSP ") for the Grand Junction Pipe & Supply Company's ( "Applicant" or "GJPS ") <br />Gunnison River Gravel Pit Nos. 1 & 5 operation in accordance with § 37 -90- 137(11), C.R.S. The <br />applicant shall be responsible for compliance with this plan, but the State Engineer's Office ( "SEO ") <br />may also pursue the landowner for eventual compliance. The required fee of $257 has been <br />received (receipt no. 3659114). <br />SWSP Operations <br />The Gunnison River Gravel Pit Nos. 1 & 5 operation is proposed to consist of five gravel <br />pits, all located within one contiguous mine area that is permitted under Reclamation Permit No. M- <br />2009 -048. Pit Nos. 2, 3, and 4 will be developed in the future and only Pit Nos. 1 and 5 are <br />included in this approval. Pit Nos. 1 and 5 are located adjacent to the west bank of the Gunnison <br />River as shown on the attached Figure 1. Pit No. 1 is located in the SE% of the SE% of Section 28, <br />T 12 S, R 99 W and Pit No. 5 is located in the NE% of the SE% of Section 33, T 12 S, R 99 W. <br />Well permit no. 74966 -F, which was issued March 29, 2011, for the operation of Pit <br />Nos. 1 and 5 under the prior approved SWSP, has expired. An application for a new gravel <br />pit well permit for this operation must be submitted to this office and the permit issued <br />before any ground water is exposed under this SWSP. <br />The anticipated mine life for Pit No. 1 is three years, assuming an operating period of 3 <br />months per year and 22 days of operation per month. The anticipated mine life for Pit No. 5 is also <br />three years, assuming an operating period of 10 months per year (typically January through June <br />and September through December) and 22 days of operation per month.
