Noxious Weed Management Plan
Lockland, LLC
Hopemore Shaft
Leadville, Colorado
August 2009
1. Plan Objective
The objectives for Lockland, LLC's Noxious Weed Management Plan for the
Hopemore Shaft is to:
1. provide the steps necessary for the Hopemore Mine to assess the existence of
noxious weeds within and adjacent to the property boundaries;
2. provide the Hope More Mine with preventive and treatment measures which
will control the spread and establishment of noxious weeds;
3. identify monitoring needs and frequency of monitoring.
2. Description of the Project
The Hopemore Shaft site is located about 3 miles east of the town of Leadville in
previously disturbed mine pit or dump soils in an open area above timberline. The
permitted area consists of 1.9 acres at an elevation of 11,500 feet.
3. Weed Inventory
The Hopemore Shaft requested Larry Walker, Chaffee County Weed Department,
inspect the mine site. He found a small patch of Yellow toadflax outside of the
permitted area.
4. Weed Management Techniques
The Hopemore Shaft will consult with the local weed control expert and the Colorado
State University's Website for recommended weed management techniques. The
company will implement recommended techniques for managing any noxious weeds
the local weed control expert finds.
5. Monitoring Plan
The Hopemore Shaft will monitor the site for any noxious weed species on the state
A list or the Chaffee /Lake county list. The company will have the local weed control
expert inspect the property in late July. He will be asked to identify any new noxious
weed infestations and make any recommendations to the current management
techniques.
