STAR MINE OPERATIONS LLC
April 17, 2013
Bob Oswald
Environment Protection Specialist
APR 2013
Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety, Durango Field Office: D
691 CR233 Room A -2 I DURANGO Verki eUnAT16N,
Durango, CO 81301
970 - 247 -5193
Re: NOI P2013 -006 Response Letter to Technical Adequacy Review Letter
Dear Mr. Oswald,
I have reviewed the technical a4rdequacy review letter you sent over in regards to our N01 application.
Here are our responses with each numbered response correlating with each numbered question you
posed.
1. The maximum number of drill holes that will be open at a time is four (4). This is because the
maximum number of holes on a pad is four (4) and if the holes are dry then they will be all
reclaimed upon completion of the pad. All holes will be reclaimed in conformance with the
requirements of Hard Rock Rule 5.4.
2. 1 confirm using the deepest holes for bonding purposes is a reasonable assumption.
3. All necessary items for the pad can be contained with the area. This is accomplished by using a
track mounted drill rig, pipe racks and water tanks instead of mud pits. By using this drilling
procedure and small rig it limits the disturbance required for a drill pad.
4. Mud pits are not necessary as portable water containment tanks will be used. The water can be
circulated between the tanks and used for drilling. This is required as some of the pad locations
do not have sufficient space or potential digging depth to allow for proper pit construction.
Using this method the disturbance is limited and reclamation efforts are eased.
5. 1 concur that all roads will be built to provide adequate drainage and runoff controls to reduce
potential impacts as much as possible. All roads will also be built in a way designed to best
blend in with the surrounding topography and landscape.
