(Tobe) ALLUMBAUGH, DIST. 3
1
C
During the past few years, Crowley County has mined this gravel pit sparingly, as the quality of
the product has been continually declining. Where we once could gather a good gravel and
binder mix, the binder has nearly disappeared. When we do attempt to screen gravel, all we end
up getting is sand and certainly not the quality we need for our road base. As a result, we have
been buying most of our gravel from a private vendor.
In discussions with an engineering firm, we were informed that we could screen our gravel at the
pit and haul in a binder to mix with it. If this works, we can certainly make gravel cheaper than
we can buy it. In this regard, it is our intent to implement this suggestion. We hope to begin
implementing this procedure by the middle of July 2013. If it works, we will continue to keep
the pit open and running. If it does not work, we will consider applying for Temporary
Cessation or Intermittent Status.
obe) Allumbaugh
Board of Commissioners
Crowley County is an Equal Opportunity Employer
