Section - 2.05.3 <br />material downslope to construct the Elk Creek Mine facilities portal bench and road <br />and for access to construct the upper rock catch bench. Following construction, the <br />road will be retained for inspection and maintenance of the slope stabilization <br />area,maintenance of the rock catch bench and as a safety feature. The light -use road <br />and associated catch bench will be constructed so that they slope into the hill at 15 <br />percent and 30 percent, respectively, both to control drainage and to catch and retain <br />loose rock from above. <br />G. The Bear Creek Fansite — The Bear Creek Fansite light use road is located to access <br />the back or east side of the Bear Creek Fansite bench area. <br />H. Exploration Boreholes and Light Use Roads — The Sanborn Creek Mine and Elk <br />Creek Mine have conducted various coal exploration activities to better define the <br />coal resource in advance of mine plan development. Both mine plan revisions and <br />Notice of Intent to Explore (NOI) have been employed to facilitate the drilling <br />plans. Refer to Exhibit 2.04 -E3, Item 8 Exploration Notices of Intent for details of the <br />exploration plans. <br />Road construction methods are similar for all classes of roads, with construction generally involving <br />initial clearing of vegetation and recovery of available soil materials, cut -fill excavation and placement, <br />TR-67 2.05 -31b Revised February 2010 <br />
